Event Type: Adult Program - All Date: 6/11/2014 Start Time: 7:00 PM End Time: 8:30 PM Description: Chicago naturalist and author Joel Greenberg presents a slide-lecture based on his recent book detailing the passenger pigeon's flight to extinction. His book relates how the pigeons' propensity to nest, roost, and fly together in vast numbers made them vulnerable to unremitting market forces and recreational hunting. His cautionary chronicle examines what happens when species and natural resources are not harvested sustainably.
